There is a vulnerability in the physicality of the human form, which, when observed to be in a state of distress is directly relatable to the observer.
In this video, repetitive actions strike a chord of visceral, repulsive energy: the pain of persistently pulling at a hangnail, the unhygienic, concentrated precision of biting fingernails, the anxious energy of unending fingernail-tapping.
Even though these actions are very familiar, they are generally deemed harmful and abnormal, indicating some unseen horror, only visible in the mind of the subject.
The concentration of these movements border on abjection, and are accompanied by several narrative voices detailing their respective internal conflicts, navigating a journey through the constant precariousness of a delicately balanced sanity.
